The Herod Response (Matt 2:1-18)

• We’re troubled by Jesus when we realize he will disrupt our sense of power and control.
• When we’re tempted to have this response to Jesus, we need to realize his Lordship is best for us.
• Therefore, we ought to learn to recognize and resist the “Herod response” in your own life.
• So, by the power of the Spirit, let’s grow in living in light of the Lordship of Jesus.

The Joy of the Future (Rev 21:1-5)

In this last lesson, we look to John's vision of "a new heaven and a new earth" in Revelation 21:1-5 as we are reminded of . . . "The Joy of the Future"

• No matter what we experience in this age, God’s people will be full of joy in the age to come.
• Nothing in this life is as secure as our destiny in Christ.
• Knowing our destiny in Christ can bring us great joy in the present.
• Therefore, we ought to think about the age to come often.
• So, by faith and by the work of the Spirit, let’s rejoice in the destiny Christ has secured for us.

Joy During Difficulties (James 1:2-4)

This week, we turn our attention to the Letter of James 1:2-4 to hear the exhortation to, "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds." In this sermon, Pastor Stuart teaches about . . . "Joy During Difficulties "

• We can have joy even in difficult, challenging, or painful  circumstances.
• This joy isn’t found in the circumstances themselves.
• Joy during difficulties is found in how we consider the circumstances.
• God is at work even in our most troublesome moments to make us perfect and complete in Christ.
• Even though we may be tempted to doubt these truths, Jesus deepens our faith.
• Therefore, when facing any difficulty of life, remind yourself of how the Spirit is at work in you and in others.
• So, by the work of the Spirit, let’s grow in finding joy even in the midst of troubling times.

• Jesus is not only the great example of humility; he humbled himself for our salvation.
• Therefore, we can ask the Spirit to produce true humility in you.
• So, let’s continue to grow in the joy of Jesus by growing in humility.

The Happiness of Holiness (Neh 8:1-12)

• Holiness and happiness harmonize.
• One reason we doubt this truth is that we misunderstand holiness.

• The good news we can celebrate is that our holiness and our happiness connect in Jesus.
• Therefore, we can ask the Holy Spirit to make the connection between holiness and happiness more vividly real in your life.
• So, let’s celebrate with holy happiness the gift we have in Jesus.
