The Joy of Worship (Psalm 98)

In this sermon, we turn to Psalm 98 to find our delight in the LORD and all that He has done as we embrace the  . . . "The Joy of Worship"

• There is a substantial connection between worship and joy.
• This makes sense because worship gets us “outside ourselves.”
• Part of the joy of worship is rejoicing in what God has given us in Christ.
• Therefore, we ought to enjoy God as frequently as we can.
• So, let’s find great joy in worshiping our great God.

The Joy of Being Enjoyed (Zeph 3:14-17)

Join Pastor Stuart as we continue learning what the Scriptures show us about Joy.

In this third installment, we look to the prophet Zephaniah 3:14-17 to remember God's delight in His People and . . . "The Joy of Being Enjoyed"

• As believers in Christ, we can have great joy because God rejoices over us!
• This truth is in stark contrast to the way we are often tempted to think about God.
• God’s joy over us is displayed in his extravagant love for us in Christ.
• Therefore, we can "marinate" often in the joyful love
  of God for you in Christ.
• So, let’s dare to believe and celebrate that in Christ God rejoices over us.

Joy is Relational (Gal 5:13-26)

Join Pastor Stuart as we continue our journey exploring what Scripture teaches us about Joy.

This week, we examine God's Word in Galatians 5:13-26 as we learn about the works of the flesh and the fruits of the Spirit and see that . . . "Joy is Relational"

• Joy is fundamentally relational.
• Selfishness and self-centeredness are in opposition to joy.
• God’s design is that joy is to be experienced and shared with others.
• Jesus frees us to experience and share joy with others. 
• Therefore, relying on the Spirit, we can seek opportunities to experience and share joy with others.
• So, for God’s glory and our good, let’s share the joy God has given us with one another.

Joy is a Gift from God (Ecc 2:24-26)

We begin our journey examining several passages from the book of Ecclesiastes (2:24-26; 3:12-13; 5:18-20) as we learn that . . . "Joy is a Gift from God"

• God is the wellspring of every experience of joy we have.
• The greatest and most lasting joy is the fruit of the Spirit coming from our relationship with God through Christ.
• Therefore, we can pray for joy.
• So, let’s believe that as we ask our heavenly Father for the good gift of joy, he will give generously.

• We’re enabled to do these good works of love because of what Christ has done for us.
• Therefore, we can look for ways to encourage other Christ-followers to grow in love and good works.
• So, let’s flourish in stirring up one another to goodness and love.

Focus on Prayer (James 5:13-18)

Invest in Each Other (1 Thess 2:1-8)

• Christ-followers are called to invest in one another.
• As a covenant community, we don’t simply share information with one another; we share ourselves.
• The investment we make in others is an expression of love.
• Investing in others reflects the loving investment Christ has made in us.
• Therefore, we can intentionally invest in a few folks for Christ’s glory and their good.
• So, let’s invest well in others knowing the return on those investments is priceless.

Called to Community (Rom 12:4-5)

• Christ-followers are called to community.
• We belong to Christ and to one another.
• We need one another.
• Our witness to the world is best seen through community.
• Therefore, we ought to actively engage in the community of the church by practicing LIFE:
  • Learn together,
  • Invest in one another
  • Focus on prayer
  • Encourage each other to ministry involvement
• So, because of Jesus and by the power of the Spirit, let’s commit to active engagement in the covenant community of the church.
